So I gave a try designing two characters made up of a sort of mix between the characters and fashions of The Abarat (by Clive Barker) and the illustration style of Edward Gorey, with what's becoming my signature non-plussed facial expressions.
A nice moment of a lady bracing herself against the wind blast that thunders through the New York metro system, unfortunately it looks rather like she's standing on the tracks, but I suppose that morbid aspect perhaps likens this picture more to an Edward Gorey illustration.

Day 1 in new York brought torrential rain. This fellow I watched from the safety of a starbuck's. I had picked up a small post-card book of Edward Gorey's illustrations in Washington so found myself experimenting with this new style of shading. I think it fits with the rain nicely.
